The powerful motor employs dense windings that allow Makita to make the package even more compact and manageable. As with the 5277NB, it uses a precision hypoid gear system that requires no maintenance (you never need to add oil). The 5377MG features a 15-amp Makita industrial motor producing 4,500 RPM, combined with well-balanced magnesium components to make a lighter weight saw that delivers the true power that professional users demand. Users will benefit from precision-machined, maintenance-free hypoid gears that deliver more consistent power than traditional gears. Hypoid gears allow more contact surface so more power is transferred over a wider surface area for increased power and durability. Additionally, the hypoid gears are sealed in an oil bath so they never require maintenance. The saw has a large cutting capacity (2-3/8" at 90°) with a bevel capacity of 51.5° and positive stops at 22.5°, 45° and 51.5° for quick back and forth changes.
Ergonomic and User-Friendly Features
Magnesium components allow Makita to design a saw that is lighter (13.2 lbs.), well-balanced and tough for the job site. Additional design details include a larger space between the rear handle and the blade section to provide a better grip for large hands or users with gloves, as well as a larger space between the blade and housing for a clearer view of the blade and scale measurements. Makita has put engineering and ergonomics into the ease of use of this saw, including clear and visible numbering for depth and bevel, ergonomic handles to improve overall control while minimizing operator fatigue. Includes Ultra-Cover Blade for Structures
The 5377MG includes Makita's premium 7-1/4" ultra-clear structural blade with advanced serration design. The "M" shape tooth design features two points and 2 bevel faces at 10 degrees to maximize faster, cleaner and longer lasting cutting performance. Carbide tips are specifically made to withstand the toughest conditions such as driving nails into wood. The ultra-coated blade reduces heat and debris for a faster, smoother cut and has special Makita heat vents strategically arranged to dissipate heat and improve performance. The 5377MG also includes a blade key attached to the saw for quick and convenient blade changes.
Engineered for a Range of Applications
The 5377MG is built for structures, walls, floors and ceilings using a range of dimensional lumber and dense wood, including LVL, PSL and I-jointed, headers and micro-laminates; as well as breaking laminated panels, OSB, particleboard and dense-frame panels. Other applications include down-cutting and beveling.
